The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine in partnership with New York-Presbyterian /Queens is seeking a board-certified experienced physiatrist to serve as the inaugural Chief of the Department of Rehabilitation at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens. This newly formed department will incorporate three physiatrists already working at NYPQ in musculoskeletal care, and will expand its physician staffing over the next several years under the direction of the new Chief. Areas of anticipated expansion include neurological rehabilitation, acute hospital consultation, subacute rehabilitation, interventional spine care, sports medicine, and pediatric rehabilitation. In addition to leading the physiatry service, the Chief will also provide medical direction to the hospital’s physical, occupational, and speech/language therapy services.
NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens is the largest voluntary hospital in Queens and serves patients in a culturally and ethnically diverse area. This 535-bed busy tertiary facility is an academic affiliate of Weill Cornell Medical College and serves over two million residents in the borough of Queens, NY. Our academic programs include three graduate medical education residency programs and six fellowship programs, including an ACGME accredited sports medicine fellowship in partnership with New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine.
Queens, home to Flushing Meadows Park, is proud to host both the New York Mets baseball team and the US Open Tennis Tournament. As one of the most ethnically diverse urban areas in the world, Queens can satisfy nearly every taste. Foodies covet the Greek cuisine of Astoria and the authentic Asian food in Flushing; others admire the inventive art at Socrates Sculpture Park and the stunning flora at the Queens Botanical Garden. In the borough’s southern extremes, the surf is always up at Rockaway Beach.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. The Chief of Rehabilitation Medicine will report to the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital, and to the Chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. The selected candidate will be an employee of Weill Cornell Medicine and hold an academic appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and credentials.
