In 2013, OrthoCarolina established a physiatry-based Interventional Spine Fellowship in Charlotte, NC. Our program is generated towards training Physiatrists in the diagnosis and treatment of spine disorders. Fellows receive hands-on training in a variety of fluoroscopically guided procedures, such as: lumbar, cervical, and thoracic epidurals, nerve blocks and facet injections, peripheral joint injections including hip, shoulders, sacroiliac joint, elbow, wrist and knee, radiofrequency ablations, and also electrodiagnostic studies. In addition, Fellows are exposed to evidence based medicine and ongoing evolution of practice philosophy, weekly spine surgery lecture series, interventional spine didactic and lecture series, and have the opportunity to participate in research projects. We have an in-office procedure suite. Once the Fellow is acclimated to our clinic system, they will participate in clinic where they make decisions independently.
