The Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine is seeking a Division Director, who will lead the clinical, administrative, educational, and research goals of the sub-specialist division. The position will hold the faculty rank of Associate Professor or Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will have a history of achievement in education, scholarship, clinical care, service, and administration with an emphasis on experience in an academic health system.
Established more than 25 years ago, the Emory Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division was one of the first sub-specialty units in the country. Today the division provides services at various sites across the Emory Healthcare and the Grady Health Systems. Emory Healthcare currently provides maternity services for approximately 11,000 patients per year and the Division provides subspeciality services at the Emory Perinatal Center at Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory Perinatal Center at Decatur, with expansion plans anticipated. The Division also directs the Emory Regional Perinatal Center at Grady (the affiliated county-supported hospital in Atlanta). This center is a state-of-the-art Perinatal Center which is the largest of only six regional high-risk infant care centers in the south.
The Division offers a three-year comprehensive ACGME and ABOG approved fellowship program in Maternal-Fetal Medicine incorporating clinical, surgical, research, and educational activities. Our program combines exceptional clinical training in maternal fetal medicine with a wide variety of research opportunities. Emory MFM fellows gain tremendous experience managing high risk patients with a variety of acute chronic health conditions and have opportunities for collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- In partnership with the Chair of the Department, develop a comprehensive strategy and plan for the growth and development of the division's clinical, educational, and research activities.
- In partnership with the Chair of the Department and Director of Administrative Operations, manage the Administrative, Finance, Research, and Clinical operations for the division.
- Develop the professional and leadership development of the faculty of the Division
- Participate in the clinical services initiatives of the Emory Healthcare system as well as the Grady Healthcare System with an emphasis on quality, effectiveness and efficiency.
- Address issues of maternal care and mortality, care disparity, and complex maternal care needs of patients across the state of Georgia.
- Advance education missions for Maternal Fetal Medicine within fellowship program to expand clinical expertise at Emory Healthcare.
- Participate in the direct supervision and training of faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Strategic planning related to development of research, for guiding the growth of research in the Division and, for fostering collaborative research involving faculty of other divisions/departments.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited ACGME Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship training program.
- ABOG board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and the subspecialty of Maternal Fetal Medicine.
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
- Qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor at Emory University School of Medicine.
- Minimum of eight years of experience with four years of leadership experience.
- Licensure by the Georgia Composite Medical Board will be required prior to commencement of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four or more years' experience in an academic practice is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills necessary to complement and expand the existing clinical and academic programs.
