The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), and the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota announces an outstanding opportunity to join a growing academic medicine department as a full-time Interventional Medical Spine Physician. We are seeking a dynamic and energetic professional who desires to be a part of the M Health Fairview multi-disciplinary, patient-centered, Medical Spine Program. The candidate's department home will be determined by the applicant's training background.
Responsibilities of an Interventional Medical Spine Physician include working with the M Health Fairview Medical Spine program director and other specialty providers to expand the M Health Fairview Medical Spine Program. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellent patient care, possess strong clinical skills, have outstanding interpersonal skills, and have an interest in education and scholarly activity. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a graduate of an accredited PM&R or Anesthesiology residency training program, a graduate of an accredited Pain fellowship program through either Anesthesiology or PM&R, be board-certified or board-eligible with the American Board of PM&R (ABPM&R) in physiatry and pain medicine or the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) in anesthesiology and pain medicine, or other fellowship training in interventional spine including NASS-recognized fellowships, be eligible to acquire a Minnesota Board of Medical Practice license, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges. Must possess the skills to manage change and communicate effectively in rapidly growing departments. Enthusiasm, a collaborative nature, and an interest in cultivating a thriving academic interventional medical spine practice are essential to the success of the candidate and the M Health Medical Spine Program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Interventional Medical Spine clinical practice, which includes outpatient evaluation, diagnostic work-up with or without performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic injections; and the management of non-surgical spine patients
Work collaboratively within the comprehensive spine program alongside providers and clinicians from other specialties throughout M Health Fairview including, but not limited to, anesthesiology, PM&R, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, radiology, pain medicine, primary care, and physical therapy
Participation in a multi-disciplinary indications conference
Work with Allied Health Professionals, APP's, and trainees (medical students, residents, fellows, visiting students, and other allied health professionals)
Close all patient encounters before eight (8) calendar days
As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the candidate will join an actively growing academic physiatry or anesthesia-based clinical practice. Academic department and rank to be determined by the applicant's training background and experience. Faculty members mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and allied health professionals; including teaching, training, and general supervision in a clinical setting. Academic track and rank are determined by the applicant's qualifications and interests. Academic time is used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate's area of specialty/research expertise. Faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment.
