MaineHealth Neurosurgery & Spine is seeking a PMR spine specialist (fellowship and interventional experience encouraged) for their busy outpatient multispecialty Spine Center in Portland, Maine – one of the largest spine centers in New England. Leadership position in the spine center available for an experienced candidate.
The Spine Center provides consultations to the entire state of Maine and parts of Northern New Hampshire. Initial consultations and ongoing management of both surgical and non-surgical spine conditions make up the majority of the work. The Spine Center enjoys a high volume of referrals (in excess of 1000 per month) and a well-established reputation as the leading spine practice in the state of Maine. The Center has on-site EMG, X-ray and MRI, as well as two fluoroscopy suites and MSK ultrasound for interventional spine and pain procedures in a 50,000 SF first floor of a new state-of-the-art medical office building. The medical campus also includes an ambulatory surgical center adjacent to the medical office building.
Specialists in the Spine Center include physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurosurgery, orthopedic spine surgeons, and pain trained anesthesiology, with a collegial atmosphere and fully integrated care pathways between all specialists. The center performs over 25,000 patient visits, 2,500 spine surgeries and 7,000 interventional procedures annually. In-house procedures include fluoroscopically-guided spine procedures, EMG and US guided injections for chemodenervation and musculoskeletal conditions. The center currently has two outreach locations in Maine.
MaineHealth Neurosurgery & Spine provides comprehensive, high-quality and personalized care to the people of Maine and northern New England with disorders of the brain and spine. The practice offers a multi-specialty approach to treatments of spine conditions, and provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of both spine and musculoskeletal disorders. The selected candidate will join a large multispecialty group including 10 physiatrists, 10 neurosurgeons, 3 orthopedic surgeons, 3 pain-trained anesthesiologists and 2 physical therapists.
The ideal candidate will be an MD or DO with specialty training in spine, or a specialist with orthopedic spine training. Interventional training highly beneficial. Call from home approximately one week in 10.

The candidate would have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine, and the position can involve teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Medical School Program.
