Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System (SCVHHS), a large public teaching healthcare system, affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, is seeking full-time BE/BC pediatrician with strong experience in pediatrics hospitalist work to join our dynamic practice in our Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine within the Enterprise.

About the organization
Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital System (SCVHHS) is the second-largest County-owned health and hospital system in California and is committed to improving the health of the 1.8 million people of Santa Clara County. As of March 2019, SCVHHS is comprised of three hospitals: Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC - a 731-bed central hospital), O’Connor Hospital (OCH - 358 licensed beds), and Saint Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH – 93 licensed beds); in addition SCVHHS includes a large primary care network comprised of eleven health centers throughout the County, several urgent care clinics, a broad-range of specialty services in our Valley Specialty Center, comprehensive dental services, a large behavioral health department, public health, EMS, and Valley Health Plan.
SCVMC itself hosts five residency training programs and partners with Stanford University Medical Center for the training of residents and fellows in many Stanford-based specialties. SCVMC also features a Level 1 Trauma Center, Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, ABA verified Burn Center, Primary Stroke Center, and a nationally recognized CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Center. Providers in our health system also have the opportunity to use our integrated electronic health record (Epic), which brings together system-wide patient information. Recently, the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) recognized SCVMC for achieving its highest level of success (Stage 7), based on our continuous innovation and optimization of our inpatient and outpatient EHR.

About the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine
Our division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine provides the full spectrum of pediatric hospital medicine services at our main site SCVMC and at our partner sites O'Connor (OCH) and St. Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH). We have a very collegial work environment with 10+ hospitalists on staff and are growing in size to cover the south bay. We have robust specialty support, including neonatologists who staff the level 3 OCH and level 4 VMC NICUs.
About the Position
This position requires a deep commitment to providing care in community hospitals, including critical access hospitals. The preferred candidate needs to have strong delivery room skills and an interest in staff development and outreach to community physicians. Provider will work mainly between SLRH and OCH and rotate in for on average two shifts per month at VMC. Interest in staffing and oversight of a pediatric urgent care clinic at OCH also considered, but not required. Provider needs to have a response time of max 30 min to SLRH for newborn deliveries.
