ELECTROMYOGRAPHER/SPINE CONSULTANT/OUTPATIENT CLINIC

Maine Medical Partners Neurosurgery & Spine is seeking a Physiatrist for their well-established outpatient multispecialty Spine Center. The ideal candidate will be a Physiatrist (MD or DO) with specialty training and proficiency in electrodiagnostics as well as diagnosis and management of a variety of spine conditions.  ABEM certification is preferred, but not required. Call coverage will be from home, approximately one week in 10.  The selected candidate will join 13 surgeons, 3 anesthesiologists, 10 physiatrists, and 2 physical therapists.

Maine Medical Partners Neurosurgery & Spine has a well-established reputation as the leading spine and neurosurgical practice in the state of Maine, and provides compassionate, high-quality and personalized care to the people of Maine and northern New England with disorders of the brain and spine.  The Spine Center includes physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurosurgery, orthopedic spine surgery, and anesthesiology specialists- all working together in a collegial atmosphere. The Center has two outreach locations in Maine.  The Practice offers a multispecialty approach to the treatment of spine conditions and provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of both spine and musculoskeletal disorders.  In addition, the Practice also offers a Rehabilitation Medicine clinic to address the rehabilitation needs of pediatric and adult patients covering a variety of diagnoses.  Care is coordinated frequently through collegial interactions with Pediatric and Adult Neurology located in the same building.

The Spine Center, which recently moved to a beautiful new 100,000ft² building, provides consultations to the entire state of Maine and parts of Northern New Hampshire.  Initial consultations and ongoing management of both surgical and non-surgical spine conditions make up the majority of the clinical work.  In addition, the EMG lab receives a full range of electrodiagnostic referrals for spine, peripheral nerve, and neuromuscular disorders.  The Practice is supported by a high volume of referrals and access to on-site EMG, X-ray, and MRI as well as two fluoroscopy suites and musculoskeletal ultrasound for interventional procedures. 

Maine Medical Center has 700 licensed beds, and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level One Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships and is an integral part of Tufts University Medical School.  The candidate hired would have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine and the position can involve teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Program.
