Inpatient Medical Director - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation - Roanoke, VA:

Carilion Clinic, a physician-led, multi-specialty clinic of 750+ physicians located in gorgeous Roanoke, Virginia is seeking Board Certified Physiatrist to join our growing healthcare system as Medical Director, Inpatient Rehabilitation.

Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital houses a 33-bed, private room, inpatient rehabilitation facility, Carilion Inpatient Rehabilitation (IPR), to serve the rehabilitation needs of the communities in Southwest Virginia and surrounding states. Referrals to the inpatient rehabilitation program are received from Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH), a tertiary care, 700 bed academic Level 1 Trauma Center; several Carilion Clinic community-based hospitals; and other critical access hospitals.

The inpatient medical director will collaborate closely with the PM&R section chief, experienced senior nurse leaders, and therapy directors. S/he will be responsible for developing and directing inpatient rehabilitation processes, overseeing provider care quality, and providing direction for patient mix to facilitate exceptional rehabilitation care and outcomes.

In addition to program development, clinical work will include managing care for a percentage of patients admitted to Carilion IPR, caring for patients in the outpatient clinic with expertise in neurodiagnostics and/or spasticity management preferred, and/or providing rehabilitation consultation services at CRMH.  The clinical work is in partnership with PM&R department colleagues, neuropsychologists, and several advanced care providers within the department.

The candidate is expected to apply for an academic appointment with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) and will be involved in teaching VTCSOM and visiting medical students, residents in our Graduate Medical Education programs, along with ancillary health professions trainees from Radford University Carilion.
