Mount Carmel Health System is seeking a Program Director for its ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Residency Program located in Columbus, Ohio.
The Orthopedic Residency Program is approved for a total of 10 residents, two per year. Mount Carmel Grove City and Mount Carmel East hospitals along with a nearby outpatient surgery center and resident run outpatient clinic support the main educational opportunities. Our dedicated faculty consists of four key members and 24 key subspecialists.
Research is an important component of Graduate Medical Education at Mount Carmel. The Mount Carmel research Institute (MCRI) provides research support to residents, as well as faculty and other investigators across the System. The department's Research Director, Biostatistician, Research Coordinators, and IRB Data Coordinator all provide research support ranging from study design and IRB protocol review to statistical analysis and manuscript review. Research support is also provided in the form of an annual resident lecture series and assistance with the resident Quality improvement and Patient Safety projects.
Medical simulation has emerged as an important tool. Our Center for Innovative Learning includes a state-of-the-art simulation lab and has over 13,000 square feet providing education services to residency programs, a college of nursing, Mount Carmel Health System Medical Staff and local Emergency Medical Services. The Center features four high-fidelity simulation bays, labs for orthopedic skills and ultrasound practice, as well as a video conference center.
Must be Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
Prior experience as a Program Director or Associate Director preferred
Have previous leadership / administrative experience
Have strong administrative and team building skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Candidates with recent scholarly activity such as peer reviewed funding, publication of original research or review articles in peer reviewed journals, chapters in textbooks, publication or presentation of case reports or clinical series at scientific society meetings, or participation in national committees or educations organizations highly encouraged to apply
