Bayside Employee Health Center is seeking a team-oriented physiatrist to join our well established, physician owned general occupational medicine clinic with onsite PT/OT in the Summer of 2021. This position offers a four day work week, with no call or weekend work and most major holidays off. This is a great opportunity for a candidate who is seeking a work/life balance and there is also potential for consideration for a partnership track for the right candidate. Bayside welcomes applicants who have recently completed their residency programs. Position Summary The physiatrist will work with a multidisciplinary team to treat injured workers in our office. He/She will assist in the management of the therapy department (two DrPTs, and one OTR), and be a secondary physician supervisor for our midlevel provider. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Graduate of a US osteopathic or allopathic medical school.
- Completion of a US physical and rehabilitation medicine residency
- Ability to obtain and maintain a licensure with the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine
- Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Current DEA Registration Certificate
- Ability to pass background check and preplacement examination
Essential Functions - Evaluate orthopedic and soft tissue injuries, concussions, and occupational neurological disorders; determine and provide appropriate pharmacological treatment, diagnostic testing and therapeutic interventions; utilize outside specialists as needed. Medical philosophy supports conservative care and return to work.
- Work collaboratively and positively with the patient, employers, insurers and case managers to insure an optimal outcome for the injured worker.
- Provide musculoskeletal /soft tissue injections
- Perform EMGs
- Provide evidence based causation assessments
- Perform chart reviews
- Perform independent medical examinations (preferred)
- Provide work capacity recommendations
- Cordial, professional communication skills with the patient, coworkers, employers, insurers and other care team members
- Provide clinic back up for acute MS injuries as allowed by the schedule
- Demonstrate and utilize knowledge of worker’s compensation and its impact on injured workers when managing cases.
- Maintain a positive collegial relationship with outside primary care and specialty providers
- Ability to complete documentation in a timely fashion
- Provide clinical guidance to physical and occupational therapists and assist the department in maintaining best therapy practices
- Assist in managing the therapy department, including hiring and termination of therapists
- Ability to maintain work schedule, evaluating most initial visits within 1 hour and follow-ups within ½ hour.
- Ability to arrive at work on time in a consistent fashion with few unplanned absences
- Provide secondary supervision to midlevel provider
- Provide clinical support as needed to the midlevel provider in a collegial and respectful manner
- Assist in training new midlevel providers as needed
- Prudently utilize opiates and follow State and National guidelines for proper prescreening, assessment and monitoring
- Understand and adhere to confidentiality rules as it pertains to HIPPA and State of ME WC
- Ability to utilize a Windows based computer program, navigate the internet and prepare documents as needed.
