Brain Injury Medicine Fellowship

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is pleased to offer a one-year fellowship in Brain Injury Medicine for a physician who has completed an accredited residency in PM&R, Neurology, or Psychiatry. This 12-month ACGME-accredited program will expose the fellow to the full spectrum of brain injury clinical care, including acute trauma and post-acute rehabilitation, as well as spasticity and concussion management. Fellows will teach PM&R residents and medical students, while training with the many disciplines that contribute to brain injury care, including neurosurgery, neurology (i.e. headaches, post-traumatic seizures), ENT (vestibular rehabilitation), neuroradiology, neuropsychology, and all of the rehabilitation disciplines.
Training occurs at the following sites:
96-Bed state-of-the-art Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Hospital
The fellow will have the opportunity to tailor the provided schedule to their area of interest. Funding is provided for education and research endeavors. Research opportunities include the ability to participate in translational and public health research. At the completion of this one-year fellowship, the fellow will meet eligibility requirements to sit for the board examination. This subspecialty certification in Brain Injury Medicine is co-administered by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and approved by the American Board of Medical Subspecialties (ABMS).
