Interventional Spine/Pain Management Fellowship

Swedish Medical Center is the largest nonprofit hospital in the greater Seattle area. As a high-volume, urban medical center, Swedish attracts nationally recognized physicians and scientists, and provides a broad population base that enhances the patient care, research and education efforts at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute. The Interventional Spine Fellowship allows the fellow an opportunity to work with a world renowned faculty of neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons while being mentored by the medical director of Interventional Pain Management who is a physiatrist. The practice involves: diagnostic and therapeutic epidural steroid injections, sacroiliac injections, sympathetic blockade, facet procedures (including radiofrequency denervation), kyphoplasty, spinal cord stimulation and tumor ablation. Additionally, the practice includes physical and occupational therapy as well as multiple imaging modalities (MRI, CT, and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound), the use of opioid and adjuvant medications, electrodiagnostic medicine, and bracing. There will also be exposure to cervicogenic headaches, facial pain, cancer pain, vertebral compression fractures, chronic cervical and lumbar radiculopathy and scoliosis. The fellow will have access to a cadaver/dissection lab as courses at the Seattle Science Foundation (SSF). SSF is a state-of-the-art bio skills and tele-education center located immediately adjacent to the SNI outpatient clinic. This is a one year fellowship with a salary of $74,921.28.
