The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHCS) is actively recruiting to fill Deputy Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation who is Board Certified Physiatrist (BE considered) to help care for our Veterans – American’s Heroes. Selected candidate will be considered for a faculty appointment at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine & will be actively involved with education & teaching of PM&R residents, pain fellows, medical students & other providers. VAGLAHS consists of two ambulatory care centers, a tertiary care facility and 8 community-based outpatient clinics. VAGLAHS serves Veterans residing throughout five counties: Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. There are 1.4 million Veterans in the VAGLAHS service area. The Deputy Chief of PM&R/Physiatrist will be responsible for providing professional administrative and clinical services to Veterans in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. This position is under the direct administrative supervision of the Chief Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. We provide high quality Service for our Veterans by placing an emphasis on therapeutic excellence, and a multi-disciplinary approach to care. The incumbent will participate as assigned in patient care, teaching, and administrative activities of the Service. Expertise in chronic pain, Neurorehabilitation, regenerative medicine or cancer rehabilitation is preferred. The Staff physiatrist may also be required to treat patients with painful and function-limiting musculoskeletal disorders of the spine, peripheral joints, and soft tissues such as sprains/strains, disc herniation's, rheumatologic conditions, degenerative, developmental, acquired, and traumatic neuromuscular conditions of the upper and lower limbs, spinal cord, and brain. Prescribe therapeutic exercise and other rehabilitation modalities. Perform and interpret electro diagnostic studies to include electrodiagnostic studies. Interpret other diagnostic studies that evaluate a patient's musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems. Physiatrist should be competent to perform injection techniques. Fluoroscopy guided injections and musculoskeletal ultrasound training is desirable. The requirements for the incumbent will include teaching and preceptor responsibilities for the PM&R residency program and participation in residency, fellowship and hospital committees as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, (May be required to work evenings or weekends as a 24/7 Full-Time Physician).

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
Board Certification in Physiatry preferred, but Board Eligibility may also be considered
