Currently we have a full-time faculty position for a Board Certified Physiatrist (PM&R) interested in inpatient rehabilitation patient care at Rusk@ NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.

Our 30-bed acute care rehabilitation unit offers a comprehensive range of inpatient programs to help people overcome or adapt to the effects of physical and neurological illness or injury. Our experienced physicians have multiple board certifications including PM&R, Pain Management, Spinal Cord injury Medicine, and Brain Injury Medicine. Physician led teams partnering with excellent support staff provide comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation care at our Level I Trauma Center with available expert multispecialty clinical services.
Candidates must be Board Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. A current, active and unrestricted Medical Doctorate (MD) or Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) license to practice in NY is required. Current DEA License is required. Active BLS & ACLS is preferred, although can be attained during onboarding. Prior significant clinical experience in PM&R Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) medical management and acute care consultation in hospital settings is preferred.
This position is accountable for providing day-to-day IRF medical care, rehabilitation team guidance, and medical leadership for inpatient rehabilitation care activities and decisions. This position is responsible for supporting the IRF Medical Director in all aspects of inpatient rehabilitation management, including organizing and directing the provision of physical medicine and rehabilitation services in agreement with all applicable federal, state and local laws and standards, rules and regulations. The position reports directly to the Rehabilitation Medicine Chief of Service. The position includes participation on relevant departmental and hospital committees as assigned. Weekend and holiday on-call rotation is required. Dedicated IM Hospitalists cover medical needs of patients during evenings and overnight.
The ideal candidate will have superior training, experience/training in inpatient rehabilitation medicine, and excellent interpersonal skills. We are looking for physiatrists with training in any one of the following areas:
Brain injury rehabilitation
Spinal cord injury rehabilitation

Requires the ability to guide the interdisciplinary rehabilitation care team.
Requires the ability to collaborate with social worker and case management to achieve safe discharge planning and community re-entry, including caregiver readiness.
Requires strong communication skills, including patient & family education and engagement.
Requires collaboration with rehabilitation admission liaisons regarding medical appropriateness issues or decisions surrounding IRF admission candidates.
Requires participation in Rehabilitation Medicine consultation service, completed in a timely manner with recommendations made readily available to the referring practitioners.
Requires participation in IRF follow up continuity clinic.
Requires participation in concurrent and retrospective clinical review issues or decisions.
Requires participation in department specific quality improvement and patient safety activities.
Requires participation in the design, development and implementation of clinical programs.
Requires analytical skills to evaluate data from various sources to identify trends and issues.
