This is a one year ACGME accredited multi-disciplinary Pain Medicine Fellowship. It is affiliated with the LSU PM & R resident program however the program director is a Neurologist. Rotations include LSU UMCNO inpatient pain consults, Touro Rehab inpatient pain consults, Louisiana Children’s Medical Center inpatient pain consults, Tulane Psychiatric Pain Management clinic, VA Interventional Pain and PM & R continuity clinic and Ochsner (private practice) Interventional Pain Clinic. All applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents who have graduated recently from an accredited US Resident training program in Anesthesiology, Neurology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation or Psychiatry. Fellows are provided clinical experience in managing chronic, acute and cancer pain patients and also get extensive exposure to a variety of interventional pain procedures.

Procedures Taught: Fellows learn and practice a wide variety of interventional procedures during their training such as epidural steroid injections, trigger point and lumbar facet injections, lumbar spine procedures, baclofen pump placements, spinal cord stimulator placements and fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided procedures. Fellows generally attend 2 outside weekend courses for ultrasound guided procedures and/or spinal cord stimulator placement courses.
